Degassing chambers – oil and resin media degassing

Degassing chambers come in all shapes and sizes with varying levels of control.Typical applications include degassing silicone before making a mould, or sensitive electronic devices which require degassed oil.

If you’re a model maker, you might require a simple pot with a simple analogue gauge to make sure your resin is bubble free.

Alternatively, if you’re degassing oil in an environment where accuracy, precision and automation are key to the process, then a turnkey degassing system will be called for.

Benchtop Freeze Dryer – the LSBC50

Introducing the MechaTech Systems LSBC50 – benchtop freeze dryer (pictured below with a column manifold drying accessory).

Benchtop freeze dryer - MechaTech Systems - LSBC40

The LSBC50 is a multipurpose, compact  benchtop condenser with a 5 litre capacity. Add a drying accessory, and it becomes a freeze dryer.

Ideal for the laboratory environment, the LSBC50 proves a popular choice in universities and research laboratories, due to its versatility, ease of use and relatively low cost.

The LSBC50 has a user interface designed specifically for ease-of-use, featuring clear, bright digital displays for vacuum pressure and condenser temperature. At-a-glance status indicators enable the end user to confirm the system operating temperature, even from a distance. Complete with an Ethernet port for easy access to real time temperature and vacuum pressure data.

Features of the LSBC50 benchtop freeze dryer

• Compact benchtop footprint

• Digital display of vacuum and temperature

• -50°C smooth wall stainless steel ice condenser

• CFC free refrigeration system

It is designed to work with a wide variety of drying accessories to accommodate flasks (such as the column manifold pictured above) vials, ampoules, and bulk materials, enabling freeze drying of any shape or size sample.

Or for shelf drying, the LSB40 chamber (pictured below) offers advanced freeze drying on a small scale. Fitted with a temperature controlled product shelf, the LSB40 drying chamber has optional stoppering and data logging, reproducing the benefits of a larger scale freeze dryer at considerably less cost.

The drying chamber and condenser are connected via an isolation valve, and a transparent, perspex door allows the operator to inspect the product throughout the freeze drying process, also providing access for loading and unloading. The shelf temperature is accurately controlled between -40°C and +60ºC, and the chamber pressure can be automatically adjusted using an optional pressure regulator with an integral Pirani gauge.

Features of the LSB40 single shelf chamber:

• Freezing , primary and secondary drying, end point determination and backfill sequences are programmed and controlled using the operator interface.

• This interface also provides system mimic and status, data logging (optional),    and fault diagnosis.

• Stoppering (optional) is manually controlled using a hand operated actuator.

MechaTech Systems (all former employees of renowned scientific instruments manufacturer, Severn Science Ltd) have a combined experience of over fifty years in high vacuum engineering and refrigeration. The LyoScience (LS) range of freeze dryers are designed and manufactured at our factory in Thornbury, near Bristol, UK. We have the flexibility to tailor our products to individual requirements, and ensure that each product is fully supported in the UK, keeping cost of ownership low and simple.

MechaTech Systems Ltd are applying the finishing touches to their brand new High Vacuum Systems, Freeze Dryer and Vacuum Components catalogue:

MechaTech High Vacuum Systems and Freeze Dryer catalogue

MechaTech Systems Latest Catalogue

The new catalogue details all of MechaTech’s branded products, including the Lyoscience (LS) range of freeze dryers, the BD60 Biodry production scale vacuum dryer, and the Hyscan II hydrogen in aluminium Gas Analyser.

Also included: MechaTech’s own range of NW/KF and ISO vacuum fittings; examples of bespoke high vacuum systems and automated vacuum chambers, media degassing tanks and bespoke central vacuum systems.

The last section of MechaTech’s new catalogue includes gas sampling and particulate collection systems, of particular interest to the power generation industry, plus a comprehensive spares list including the S35 Furnace, Silica reaction tubes and C061 heating elements and S35 thermocouples.

Many of MechaTech’s branded products were previously manufactured by renowned scientific instruments manufacturer, Severn Science Ltd (SSL). When Severn Science closed, MechaTech Systems (comprising Severn Science former employees) purchased the intellectual property rights – and have been manufacturing freeze dryers, bespoke high vacuum systems, gas analysers and gas sampling systems ever since.

MechaTech Systems’ catalogue is due out early in the New Year – contact us for a copy, by emailing enquiries@mechatechsystems.co.uk or telephone +44 (0) 1454 414723.

MechaTech Systems, the company, have been manufacturing freeze dryers for 4 years, having purchased the Intellectual Property Rights from Severn Science Ltd, following its closure in 2007. In real terms, the people that make up MechaTech Systems (all former Severn Science staff)  have been manufacturing freeze dryers for pharmaceutical, biotech, food & beverage, and a host of other applications, since the 1990s.

We not only make giants like the production scale LSG60 pictured above, but also manufacture smaller, benchtop freeze driers (equivalent the old Edwards ‘Modulyo’), along with a range of drying accessories., which are more suited to a smaller laboratory environment.
